Confide offers the opportunity for student and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists to work with individual clients.
Qualified counsellors should be trained to at least Diploma level. Student counsellors should be studying to at least Diploma level and have been assessed by their course leaders as ready to begin practising. All counsellors, including students, should have experience of personal therapy.
We welcome counsellors from a wide variety of therapeutic approaches. We currently have 15 counsellors with a number of different trainings including Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Gestalt, Counselling Psychology and Integrative. Historically, Confide counsellors were mainly trained in the Psychodynamic approach and our work continues to be informed by psychodynamic principles. It is important that our counsellors are willing to consider psychodynamic ideas in their client work.
We are committed to ensuring that no-one is discriminated against on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage & civil partnership, pregnancy & maternity, race, religion and belief, gender or sexual orientation.

Charity trustees are the people who serve on the governing body of a charity and are responsible for the general control and management of the administration of a charity. The great majority of trustees serve as volunteers, and receive no payment for their work.
Charity trustees come from all walks of life and wish to create positive change in society. The work of a trustee should be rewarding, enjoyable and an opportunity to serve the community while learning new skills. Trustees with specific skills and experience such as HR, marketing, the law, contracting, charity accounting, health and safety and medical are very valuable. We also hold a number of fund raising events each year, such as supermarket collections and a book fair and always welcome extra help.
If you are interested in becoming a Confide trustee please Contact Us.
In addition to counsellors, trustees and fundraisers, Confide occasionally has opportunities for volunteers to help in other ways. For example, we may be able to offer short-term placements to marketing, business or HR undergraduates as well as more regular opportunities to contribute in areas such as payroll and other office administration tasks. If you are interested in helping in these or any other areas, please get in touch via our Contact Us page
As a registered charity that provides affordable professional counselling, Confide must continuously raise funds to cover costs and to bridge the gap between the cost of providing sessions and what clients are able to pay.
We are very fortunate and grateful to enjoy the regular support of The Jean Jackson Charitable Trust, The Roy Fletcher Charitable Trust and The Mid-Counties Co-operative Community Fund. Our counsellors, members and staff also give freely of their time and energy to help with our fundraising efforts. We regularly have collections at local supermarkets and run an annual book stall in The Square in Shrewsbury. In the past few years one of our Trustees has raised funds by running the London Marathon; another undertook a sponsored swim at her local pool. We have also benefitted from 2 concerts at Shrewsbury school, performed by pupils and including a performance by Melanie Nakhla from the group ‘All Angels’. The magician Paul Rushworth, along with fellow performers, has generously put on 2 magic shows at the Lord Hill Hotel to raise funds for Confide.
Our book stall is run in July each year and you can offer support by coming along to buy or just to talk to some of our counsellors. Similarly, we would like to hear from you if you could spare some time to help with our supermarket collections or have any ideas about other ways of raising funds and our profile.
If you would like to discuss ways in which you might be able help us, or perhaps make a donation (gift-aided if possible), please Contact Us.
